1. Set The Scene

The first thing you usually notice when you enter a spa is the relaxing scent of essential oils. The right smell can create an instant feeling of calm, so if you have a favourite scented candle don't wait any longer, get that bad boy lit! Candles can create a lovely relaxing atmosphere with their warming glow. However, you might opt to dim the lights and turn on your essential oil diffuser or even give the room a generous spritz of a calming room spray. Try to choose scents that ground themselves in aromatherapy. For calming sleepy vibes, lavender and chamomile are a firm winner but if your feeling emotional cedarwood or sandalwood fragrances can help restore balance.

2. Background Music For The Win

Music is key! Fact! Coming into your spa day with the goal to quieten your mind is great but complete silence can allow your thoughts to get cluttered. Background music can elevate your relaxing experience to the next level. Pick a playlist that isn't full of power ballads, you down want to be thrashing around the tub belting your heart out to Beyoncé (although that sounds amazing, it's just not what we are aiming for here) Try finding a relaxing playlist on Spotify, or creating your own full of your favourite laid-back tracks. If you're stuck for inspiration we have created a playlist here to get the self-care started.

3. Calm Your Mind

Keep your environment as peaceful as possible by putting down your phone and disengaging from the social world. Unwind with some herbal tea or a glass of fizz (if you want to be fancy-schmancy) and begin to let go. Sit for a while and enjoy the calm, if you're struggling to get to that place maybe try some meditation. There are plenty of free apps or youtube videos that you can access including the likes of Headspace.

4. Do It Your Way!

Now you're either a bath person or you're not, and that's completely fine. Some people love to soak away their evening with a good book in the bath. Whilst others feel like it's borderline boiling them alive and have some very strong opinions when it's ever brought up. This doesn't mean you can't treat a shower like the pampering session that bath folk do, you completely can! Get yourself a good body scrub or luxury shower gel to upgrade it from the everyday. Take time to enjoy the shower. If you are the bathing kind do the same and get some good bath salts or a fragrant bubble bath on the go, and take a long hot soak. This is your pamper day don't force yourself to try and enjoy something you don't usually like.

5. It's All About The Face

Is it even a spa-day if there's no face mask or facial insight? of course it's not, don't be ridiculous. A sheet mask is an easy mess-free option that will allow you to unwind and relax. The bonus is that most of them you don't even need to wash off you can simply peel away and rub the remaining contents into your skin without getting up... winning.

See our face mask range here.

6. Hair & Nails

With our on-the-go lifestyles... the current one of sitting at your home desk and the weekly trip to the supermarket- it's so easy to forget about your hair and nails. Give your hair the love it needs by slathering on a lovely smelling hair mask or deep conditioner. Let it do its magic wrapped up in a hair turban. Try picking one that targets your hairs needs, whether it be colour treated, dry hair or damaged, there are plenty of options on the market. Whilst your hair is being cared for, take the time to pay attention to those nails. This is probably best done when the nails are dry as they are more likely to break when wet. File and shape your nails and finish with a massaging hand cream or lotion that will make your hands feel brand new.

See our range of hand creams here.

7... And Relax

Just take your time with this one, make sure you have allocated enough time in your day so your not rushing off to do errands mid-spa. This time is for you to take for you (or to create for someone). You might even want to keep the relaxation going after your pamper session. Grab a comfy dressing gown, cosy socks or slippers and curl up with a book or watch a film. If your heading straight to bed, make sure to turn off your mobile or computer and try some mediation to keep yourself centred. Keeping the bedroom cool will help you relax and drift off, just make sure to blow out those candles!
