Ecoffee FAQs

Q : Why should I choose to re-use?
Each year over 300 billion single-use coffee cups are manufactured globally. Due to their plastic content, 99% will not be recycled. As takeaway drink consumption grows, so does the problem of waste. Each time you choose to re-use, even just once a week, you will be helping in the fight against single-use waste.

Imagine the massive difference we could make if everyone did the same. Light, bright and beautiful to drink from, with no plastic or metal after taste, with Ecoffee cup, it’s easy to Choose to Re-use every single day. If 2 million people chose to re-use just once a week, we would stop 104,000,000 single-use cups going to landfill each year.

Q : Are Ecoffee Cups dishwasher safe?
Yes, the whole product (cup, lid and sleeve) is top shelf dishwasher safe and should last for years if treated nicely.

Are Ecoffee Cups microwave safe?
No, Ecoffee cups are not suitable for microwaves as this can cause weakness in the material.

Q : Can I re-use Ecoffee Cup in my local coffee shop?
Incentives for bringing your own cup are becoming more and more common in the UK and across Europe. With up to 50p discount each time you choose to re-use, means that with as few as twenty re-uses, you could have paid for your Ecoffee Cup! High street chains with this incentive include Pret a Manger, Café Nero, Costa Coffee, Starbucks, Roadchef "Fresh Food Cafe", Greggs and Benugo.

Ecoffee Cup is made from: Bamboo fibre and corn starch (75%) Melamine-Formaldehyde resin (25%) in accordance with EU regulations.(EC) No. 1935/ 2004 (EC) No. 10/ 2011

How does Ecoffee test its products to ensure they are safe?
Ecoffee products are regularly tested by independent institutions, such as Intertek and TÜV Rheinland to demonstrate their compliance with the EU’s strict LFGB Food Contact safety regulations. Namely (EC) No 1935/2004 and specifically (EC) No 10/2011.

Is Ecoffee Cup biodegradable?
Recent changes to EU law mean that companies are no longer able to claim their products are biodegradable. In order to meet these rules, a product must biodegrade 90% within 6 months. For all consumer durable products, this is simply not achievable.

How do I dispose of Ecoffee cup when I am finished with it?
